About Harold Implement CO., Inc. near Paragould, AR
Harold Implement Company, Inc. was founded by brothers Dan W. Harold and Don B. Harold. Their Grandparents had arrived in Corning on a boxcar train in 1886 and farmed a small acreage cleared from the woods. Their father, F.A. Harold, had been an ice man, butcher, carnival man, flour mill and cotton gin owner, traded livestock, and in 1916, grew the first rice in the Corning area. Dan and Don drove trucks, raised cattle, hogs, and catfish, as well as farmed. In 1946, Dan and Don Harold bought the local Allis Chalmers dealership and opened Harold Implement Company. The first year of business was located on East First Street in Corning. In 1947, the company moved to its present location on Highway 67 in North Corning. The brothers continued to farm and raise livestock. In 1950, Dan took over full time management of the business with his wife, Earlene, while Don managed the farm operation. The company was incorporated in 1959. In 1969, Don took ownership of Harold Brothers Farm while Dan took over Harold Implement Company, Inc. In the 1950's, Harold Implement operated a Massey Harris Dealership and later a well drilling company. The company started selling Brillion in 1948 and Gleaner combines in 1955. They added many short lines. The farm supply store was added about 1964. Harold Implement became an Ace Hardware dealer in 1972. In 1974, the shop and store was destroyed by fire. Cleanup began the next day and that year a new store was built on the old foundation. Several additions and remodels have brought Harold Implement to its current status. Harold Implement brought the first stripper headers to Clay County, AR with Shelbourne-Reynolds in the early 1990's.
In November of 2006, Harold Implement purchased the assets of Corning Yamaha-Polaris. In March of 2007, the Yamaha and Polaris dealerships were moved to the Harold Implement location. A former shop was remodeled to become the ATV showroom and a parts room was built for ATV parts. The service department has been completely remodeled and updated to accomodate the service and repair of ATV and Side X Sides. Service technicians have been trained and the ATV business is rapidly expanding. In late 2012 a new showroom was constructed on the north end of the property and the old showroom was converted to house farm supplies and much of the sporting goods and clothing departments.
Harold Implement Company has now been in business for more than 60 years. It is still family owned and operated. Dan Harold's daughter Dena has been with the business since the 1950's and her husband Paul Moore started in 1963. Both have been full time since 1966. Dan's grandson Danny Moore joined the business full time in 1988. The fourth generation has joined the team with Jacob Moore, great grandson of founders Dan and Earlene Harold. Jacob is a 2018 graduate of Arkansas State University. Several of our staff members have been here many years allowing customers to benefit from their experience.
